This project examines self-silencing in response to heterosexism among sexual minority individuals and its links with minority stress and mental health.
I began developing the project in 2023, building on my interest in how sexual minority individuals may suppress their thoughts, feelings, or responses in heterosexist social environments. As part of the project, I contributed to the adaptation of a measure of self-silencing to heterosexism and examined its associations with internalized homophobia, discrimination, and depression. The work has since developed into an ongoing manuscript.
Findings from the project have been presented at national and international conferences, including the International Congress of Psychology.
